An new FX and Hulu series on the history of the ERA is playing and offers an interesting dramatization of the events surrounding its progress. You can learn more and watch here. In national news, protests have increased across the country in opposition to continued quantine orders. The U.S. Capitol (scheduled to reopen in May) was the site of somewhat opposing protests for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for health care workers. In Arizona, 100+ cars circled the State Capitol (also scheduled to reopen in May) in protest of Gov. Ducey's continued quarantine order, with car signs urging the Governor to "reopen Arizona".

A reminder that April 27th is the date of the 4th annual Campus ERA Day hosted by ERA Coalition. This years event will be virtual and streamed live on facebook and via Zoom. Find out more at or The Senate resolution (S.J.Res 6) to eliminate the time line still has at least 48 signers. Senator Sinema is a co-sponsor but Senator McSally is still not. Please contact McSally at 1-602-952-2410 or at and ask her to co-sponsor.

Please continue to write to your local papers in favor of the ERA, both opinion pieces and letters to the editor. Tips for doing both and talking points are on the website.

If you are the owner of a business, please email us to say YES put me on the list and give us the contact info that you want listed. We'll send you a decal for your window so you can make your belief for equality a sales point. If you go to a business, and who doesn't, ask every one you frequent to support the ERA by sending an email with the YES and their contact information. Don't support businesses that don't support you.

A clergy group to support the ERA has been started by an evangelical minister so if you know of any clergy member from any faith who supports, have them contact the ERA Task Force.

If the ERA Task Force can send a speaker to your group or you can host a gathering, let them know. Check out the website and facebook page for contacts and information. It's your equality after all.

On the national level, several bills were introduced by largely democrats to increase funding or relief during the COVID crisis. For example, H.R. 6539, a bill to amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to increase Federal support to State Medicaid programs during economic downturns was introduced by Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV). H.R. 6519, a bill to amend title 28, United States Code, to provide a civil action against a foreign state for deliberate concealment or distortion of information with respect to an international public health emergency was introduced by Rep. Daniel "Dan" Crenshaw (R-TX).

Given the possibility of no future public hearings, it is even more important now that you are signed up for Request to Speak (RTS) and if not, use your representative's email address for communication. The phone works well too and is actually a step up in impact from an email.

When the bill is in a committee, the person to contact is the committee chair and if your representative or senator is on that committee, contact her/him too. When the bill gets to the floor, the person to contact is your own Senator or Representatives. Once a bill passes both houses, the person to contact is the governor. (The ERA does not need the governor's signature.)
