The Central Phoenix-Inez Casiano NOW chapter will be holding a second discussion on the Hulu and FX miniseries Mrs. America on Thursday, May 21st, from 5PM to 630PM MST. The discussion will center around episode 2 - "There Was Also Jam". Event details can be found here. The entire 6 episode series on the history of ERA can be viewed here.

The Arizona House plans to reopen on Monday, May 18th, and continue the legislative session, despite the Arizona Senate voting to Sine Die on May 8th, according to House leaders. On Saturday, House Majority Leader Warren Petersen said that the house plans to continue to take up more than 60 Senate bills in the coming days, hold committee hearings, floor debate and continue with votes. Both the House and Senate must agree to Sine Die in order to end the session. On the National level, a landmark moment occurred when the U.S. House acted to allow online voting and virtual hearings. S.J. Res 6 (the bill to extend the deadine for the ERA) remains unsigned by McSally. We ask that you call and ask for her support and also call South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham (chair of the judiciary committee) on Wednesdays and ask that he allow the bill to be heard. You can reach McSally at 1-602-952-2410 or at and Graham at 1-202-224-5972.

Like every other group, we are meeting virtually and keeping in touch by internet and phone. Check out our website and facebook page for contacts and information. If you want to keep up on what AZNOW or the ERA Task Force is doing, sign up for our action alert list. We also need your donations to keep up our work. It's your equality after all.

Please continue to write to your local papers in favor of the ERA, both opinion pieces and letters to the editor. Tips for doing both and talking points are on the website.

If you are the owner of a business, please email us to say YES put me on the list and give us the contact info that you want listed. We'll send you a decal for your window so you can make your belief for equality a sales point. If you go to a business, and who doesn't, ask every one you frequent to support the ERA by sending an email with the YES and their contact information. Don't support businesses that don't support you.

A clergy group to support the ERA has been started by an evangelical minister so if you know of any clergy member from any faith who supports, have them contact the ERA Task Force.

If the ERA Task Force can send a speaker to your group or you can host a gathering, let them know. Check out the website and facebook page for contacts and information. It's your equality after all.

On Friday, May 15th, the U.S. House voted to approve a $3 trillion coronavirus spending package that will provide another round of $1,200 stimulus checks in addition to $200 billion in hazard pay for essential workers and an extension of the federal $600-per-week unemployment benefits for six more months.

Since it is unknown whether or not the Arizona House will adjourn for the session, following along with the Senate, you should continue to call/write your legislators and sign up for Request to Speak (RTS). If not for this year, then in preparation for the next!
